Throw-Away Thursday - Towels

Have you started a cleaning schedule? I started my laundry on Monday. I currently have a pile of clean clothes on my bed, a load in the dryer and a load in the washer. So sticking to a schedule can be rough sometimes.

I blame the kids.

Today is Throw-Away Thursday! Let us go look at your linen closet. My thoughts are that with a family of 5 (that’s me!), 2 towels person is enough. That means if one set is sitting in the washer, you have another set to be used. Then 2-3 extra for spills. Therefore, that is at most 15 towels. I had over 20! Same as washcloths.

As for storing them, I have found that instead of folding them I get more space by rolling them. I also think they look nicer. So 15 towels all rolled!

Jill

Help Wanted: A House Cleaner and Chef

I hate cleaning. I hate cooking.

I love having a clean house. I love eating.

Do you see my struggle here? Therefore, until we win the lottery and I can get a house cleaner and my own personal chef, I have to suck it up. Instead of completely ignoring laundry and my hungry kids, I plan. I love having a schedule. I love structure. So each Sunday I sit down and plan out the week. Each day I have a certain room/chore that I will do. I also meal plan after seeing sales and what coupons I have.

Unless the hubby suggests eating out. I jump on that faster than a kid does to a puddle after a rainy day.

Below is an example of my cleaning schedule. I challenge you to try it for a week. Do it in the morning and then you can enjoy the rest of the day with something clean!

Every day: run Roomba, pick up toys/clutter, dishes
Monday – 3rd floor: start laundry, clean bathrooms, pick up bedrooms, vacuum
Tuesday – 2nd floor: clean living room/dining room/kitchen, finish laundry, clean bathroom
Wednesday: Mop 2nd floor floors
Thursday: Wash towels and sheets

*You may notice I don't mention anything for the 1st floor. That is the kids playroom and I avoid the room like a plague. If I went down there to 'clean' I would just light a match and let everything burn!*

Blessings,
Jill

Throw-Away Thursday

We’s about to get personal! Did you know that there is a lifespan for your……ummm….you know…..*whisper* your underwear? I am not going to make you tell me how what your oldest bra or underwear is but if you have to make a reference of who was the president at the time, then the answer is too old.

Bras are only good for about 5 years.  After that time, they become stretch out and you lose the support. This applies to underwear. They should be no more than 5 years. Rule of thumb is that if you would be embarrassed for someone to see them on you then it is time to toss.

Get to throwing away!

Blessings!
Jill
